Lesson 3 - Pronouns

Pronouns are words that replace nouns.

The basic pronouns in Somish are:

je

I, me
du you
hen he, she, him, her
de it
ma one

je ela du. du ela je.
I love you. You love me.

Note that there is no gender distinction. hen is used to refer to both males and females.

As with regular nouns, just add n to make a plural pronoun.

jen
we, us
dun you (pl)
henen they, them (animate)
den they, them (inanimate)

Since ma is a general pronoun, used when the subject is not specified, it is potentially singular or plural.

The possessive pronouns are formed regularly by adding the suffix sa (which means of).

jesa

my, mine

dusa your, yours
hensa his, her, hers
desa its
masa one's

jensa our, ours
dunsa your, yours (pl)
henensa their, theirs (animate)
densa their, theirs (inanimate)
