Lesson 7 - Questions
Asking questions is very simple in Somish.
Yes/No questions (questions made from a statement) are formed
by adding the word ka
at the beginning.
| du
dista bu. |
You
live here. |
| ka
du dista bu? |
Do
you live here? |
| |
|
| hen
tika les. |
She
likes to read. |
| ka
hen tika les? |
Does
she like to read? |
As in English, there is no change in word
order. However, note that even other types of questions (those
that seek more information than just yes or no) don't change
the word order either:
| hen
tika eta va?
|
What
does he like to eat? |
| du
vakas sagi da? |
Why
do you say that? |
| vaman
te skri di? |
Who
wrote this? |
These question words occupy their logical positions in the
sentence. They are not moved to the front.
